The bioinformation technology begun operating as a standalone degree program in Helsinki University of Technology in autumn 2003. The constitutive meeting for the alumni association was held in February 2011, where the name BioDI was born (short for “Bioinformaatioteknologian Diplomi-insinööri”, Master of Science in bioinformation technology). BioDI gathers bioinformation technology alumni together from both Aalto University and the preceding Helsinki University of Technology. It arranges entertaining get-together events and informs both members of BioDI and Inkubio about job opportunities in our own field. Regular events include for example afterwork gatherings, where everyone is welcome to hang around and chat with other alumni. BioDI also periodically arranges graduation ceremonies to celebrate graduates. Working together with Inkubio, BioDI aims to share career stories and information about job prospects, and to guide the alumni on their careers.
